Can you imagine collecting over 5,000 books on golf – books that now have a total value of almost 1/2 million dollars and then giving them away? What a generous (or crazy) man. I love him!
And to think he’s from my town – Vancouver. Lucky UBC students having a donation like that. Makes me want to go back to school (NOT!!!) 😉 – I’m having too much fun playing rather than studying.
The sad part of this story is that Sam Martz’s wife never wanted to join him in his obsession. I say to her…”Your loss, dear!”. I love playing with Charles. He and I play all the time and there’s no one I’d rather play with. And given his enthusiasm on the course, I think he feels the same.
Thank you Sam! If you can’t beat an addiction, the next best thing is to share it, right?
