If you know anything about women’s professional golf, you will know Dave Andrews. Former TV news reporter and author of Pops and Sunshine, Dave is a huge supporter of young golf gals looking for their break into the big leagues of the LPGA.
If he’s not writing about them to boost their visibility with sponsors, he’s lugging their clubs around as a volunteer caddie/mentor during tournaments and qualifying rounds.
I read Pops and Sunshine quite a few years ago and found it to be a delightful book. The story will warm and break your heart while the characters will make you laugh, cry and grit your teeth in anger. From heroes to villains, this book has it all. I highly recommend you read it.
When I heard that Dave was working on the movie script for Pops and Sunshine I had to find out more about it, and his partner in this venture, Gary Hudson.
Gary is an award-winning Hollywood actor and the producer for the Pops and Sunshine. Gary has a very impressive resume:
He’s starred in:
- Over 30 films – e.g. HOOPER with Burt Reynolds, ROAD HOUSE with Patrick Swayze, BATTLE IN SEATTLE with Woody Harrelson, EYE of the KILLER with Kiefer Sutherland and ANGEL FALLS with Heather Locklear, to name a few.
- Many television series and stage productions – e.g. AS THE WORLD TURNS, PARADISE FALLS, WILD ROSES, SMALLVILLE, DYNASTY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, CRIMINAL MINDS, MISSING, THE TRACEY ALLMAN SHOW — the list goes on and on…
Gary is also active in the producing and directing world. One of his projects STORMDANCER won “Best Family Adventure” recently at the screenplay festival in Monte Carlo. And he just completed three Independent features DEADLINE where he won best supporting actor at the LA FIM FESTIVAL, WINGS of the DRAGON on location in Montreal, and THE NEVESKY PROSPECT on location in LATVIA for AMAZON.COM.

Together, Gary and Dave are laying the groundwork and putting all the pieces together to make Pops and Sunshine come alive on the big screen and I had the great honor of chatting with them about it this week.
Quite the dynamic duo, don’t you think? In fact, I’d say with their passion, contacts and talent, Pops and Sunshine is an academy award winner in the making!
